This July, M·A·C Cosmetics’ global headquarters at One SoHo Square in New York City announced that its offices have been awarded WELL Certification at the Silver level by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). This prestigious distinction is awarded through IWBI’s WELL Building Standard, which is the premier building standard focusing on people’s health and wellness through the buildings where they live, work and play.

One SoHo Square Floors 10-13 is the first of The Estée Lauder Companies’ office spaces to receive a WELL Certification, and is one of only 17 certified WELL projects in New York City!

Created through seven years of rigorous research and development working with leading physicians, scientists, and industry professionals, the WELL Building Standard is a performance-based certification system that combines best practices in design and construction with evidence-based scientific research. M·A·C’s One SoHo Square office earned the distinction based on seven categories of building performance — Air, Water, Light, Nourishment, Fitness, Comfort and Mind —and achieved a Silver level rating after rigorous testing on these categories, as well as passing a final evaluation.

Project features that helped M·A·C’s One SoHo Square office achieve its WELL Certified Silver rating include:

Air: The office features low-emitting furniture

Water: Advanced water treatment strategies for drinking fountains, sinks, and bottle filling stations

Light: Workplace lighting is designed for high visual acuity, with an average lighting level of 300 lux

Nourishment: Healthy snacks are available for employees

Fitness: The Virgin Pulse program is available to all employees

Comfort: To support acoustic comfort, open plan work areas are furnished with acoustic clouds and have carpeted floors

Mind: Artwork throughout the office celebrates M·A·C’s inclusive and creative culture

This WELL Certification project was conducted through ELCxNYC, the company’s NYC-wide office renovation initiative. ELC’s Green Building standards served as a roadmap for the renovation.

"As a co-founder of Whole Foods, I've often explained my relationship to the company with a parent-child metaphor," Buechel wrote in a letter announcing his retirement to Whole Foods Staff in September 2021. The transition took nearly a year and, now, former Chief Operating Officer Jason Buechel is stepping in to lead the high-end supermarket chain.

FRANKFURT/GDANSK (Reuters) -Russia has scrapped a Saturday deadline to resume flows via a major gas supply route to Germany, deepening Europe's difficulties in securing winter fuel, after saying it had found faults in the Nord Stream 1 pipeline during maintenance. SEOUL/DETROIT (Reuters) -After grabbing the No. 2 spot in the U.S. electric vehicle market with stylish, long-range models, Hyundai Motor and Kia are the automakers with the most to lose from new rules that halt subsidies for EVs made outside North America. These two companies, which make the popular Ioniq 5 and EV6 models, sold more than 39,000 EVs in the United States between January and July – doubling last year's sales and blowing past Ford Motor Co, Volkswagen AG and General Motors Co. But the Inflation Reduction Act signed into law by U.S. President Joe Biden last month excludes Hyundai Motor Co and its affiliate Kia Corp from federal tax credits because they don't yet make EVs in North America, knocking their EV ambitions in the short term at least, a Hyundai official, parts suppliers, analysts and car dealers said.

The Nord Stream 1 pipeline that transports Russian gas to Germany will undergo further maintenance, Gazprom said on Friday after scrapping a Saturday deadline to resume flows, deepening Europe's difficulties in securing fuel. Gazprom was already undergoing maintenance from Aug. 31-Sept. 2, prompting concerns about supply to Europe ahead of the onset of winter if the outage was extended. Russia slashed flows through the pipeline to 40% of capacity in June and to 20% in July.
