EAST LIVERPOOL — The East Liverpool City School District Board of Education met April 21 for a session lasting under 20 minutes, then they went into executive session with no action expected afterward. Several items were passed at the meeting in two separate motions, including:
Purchasing of a box trailer for East Liverpool High School Band through Appalachian Trailers in the amount of $12,334
Repairing and relocating the alarm panel at North Elementary school. With Johnson Controls in the amount of $12,390
Paying off the copier lease with Leaf Financial in the amount of $14,859.36
Purchasing a Fieldhouse Sound System Overhaul with Kinetics AV for the amounts of $34,265 for equipment and $33,000 for acoustic panels and labor
Replacing carpeting in the administration building offices with TCP Flooring in the amount of $31,921.35
Purchasing a dump trailer for the Buildings and Grounds Department through Leonard Truck & Trailer in the amount of $10,883.69
Purchasing security cameras for the Westgate parking lots through 21st Century Alarm Company in the amount of $13,700
Adopting a resolution approving and authorizing the advertisement and solicitation of bids for the Patterson Field Turf Project and authorizing and approving related matters
Purchasing a MEC Micro 26 Scissor Lift from United Rentals in the amount of $21,825
In personnel matters, the board:
Approved the resignations of the following for retirement purposes:
–Principal Dawn Moore, East Liverpool High School. Her last day will be May 31, 2022. Moore was a teacher in East Liverpool City Schools from 1998 to 2007 and then she returned as high school principal in August of 2019.
–Social studies teacher Michelle Roberts at East Liverpool Junior High School. Her last day will be May 31, 2022. Roberts has been a teacher in the East Liverpool City Schools since August of 1990.
–Elementary music teacher James Bean from LaCroft and North Elementary schools. Bean has been with East Liverpool City Schools since August 1989.
–Custodian Jason Walker of East Liverpool High School. His last day was April 21. The board received his resignation letter April 12.
–Food services worker Darlene Vantilburg at the high school. Her effective date is May 3.
Approved volunteer Mikayla Reed as volunteer soccer coach for the 2022-2023 school year
Approved Kim Pridemore and Dave Myers as event worker personnel for the 2021-2022 school year
Approved Lisa Quarterman as substitute secretary, crossing guard and custodian for the 2021-2022 school year
Approved Mr. Bryian Burson as junior-senior high school principal for the 2022-2023 school year. He is completing his tenth year with the district. Burson will be placed on a three-year contract and paid according to the board approved salary schedule. His effective date for changing positions will be June 1.
Approved a list of 120 prospective East Liverpool High School graduates for the Class of 2022. The list is subject to change upon completion of the graduation requirements.
Approved current Pre-K through sixth grade summer school dates for the summer. Classes will be from 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily, June 13 through July 15 with Monday, July 4 off.
Approved the annual fifth grade Camp Fitch trip for the 2022-2023 school year, on Sept. 19 through 21
Approved a resolution authorizing required third grade assessments in paper format for the 2022-2023 school year at the request of Ms. Cope, Ms. Phillips and Mr. Burson
Approved the addition of one regular teacher position (five through eight) and one special education teacher position (five through 12) for the Kiln for the 2022-2023 school year
Approved junior and senior high school summer school dates for grades nine through 12 this summer. Classes will be from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily, Monday through Thursday, June 6 through July 7 (with July 4 off) and July 11 through Aug. 11. They approved two teacher supervisor positions to be posted to cover Summer School Credit Recovery, one for each session, not to exceed 80 hours per session. They also approved four Career Tech positions to be posted to cover summer school mini courses which would not exceed 80 hours per session.
The next board meeting will be held Thursday, May 26 at 5 p.m.
