Rangers veteran Brad Miller made quite the fashion statement Tuesday, showing up to batting practice in some unusual (at least by baseball standards) attire. No, your eyes are not deceiving you. That’s Miller, bat in hand, preparing to take his hacks in blue jeans.

Seinfeld diehards no doubt remember the time George Constanza convinced the Yankees to ditch their polyester threads for a more breathable fabric, arguing on behalf of cotton uniforms (the short-lived experiment failed when the clothes inevitably went through the dryer, shrinking to the point where Don Mattingly split his pants). Might the Rangers be teasing a switch to denim?

Think of the possibilities—a stadium naming rights deal with Levi’s (“looks like we’ve got another sold-out crowd at Relaxed-Fit Park”), Justin Timberlake throwing out the first pitch on the night they debut their “Canadian tuxedo” alternates, renaming their Triple-A affiliate the Round Rock Blue Jeans with mascot Dungaree Dave. It would be a certified denim-palooza.

But alas, Miller was merely paying off a bet, honoring a wager he made with teammate Nathaniel Lowe. Mired in a 2-for-27 funk at the plate, Miller failed to reach base against Houston Tuesday night, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout as the Rangers scraped together just three combined hits in the losing effort.
