Procor wants to hear what its neighbours have to say about their planned expansion in southeast Sarnia.
The company, located just east of Highway 40 at Confederation Line, is hosting an open house Monday.
Director of Health, Safety and Environment John Vandermeulen said input is being sought in an effort to be a good neighbour, and as part of the environmental compliance approval process.
“We’re going to be including an exterior paint facility there, as well as interior coating, over the next couple of years,” said Vandermeulen. “We’re also going to make some other site improvements at the same time with regards to some ability to store the rail cars there as they’re in the process of repair.”
The company had originally planned to expand its footprint, but backed off when neighbours opposed.

“We’re putting a three to 3.4 metre berm, 9.8 to 11.4 feet in height. We’re planting roughly 30 Norway spruce up on the berm and they’re going to be about 6.5 feet in height. We’re also going to put a fence up on the berm.”
Vandermeulen said the berm is really just a visual piece, not a sound barrier, to hide the new building.
“We hope that with all of the new equipment that we have, the equipment will have filters built into it to really mitigate any noise emissions from this facility.”
An $8.4 million conditional building permit was issued for the project in July.
The open house is being held in the lower hall at Clearwater Arena on Monday, September 26 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
