Speed does not appear to be a factor after two people were injured Thursday morning when a semitruck crashed through a sound barrier along Interstate 70 in Huber Heights, police said.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on I-70 East near the 35.6 mile marker and shut down the right two lanes between I-75 and state Route 202 for several hours, according to the Huber Heights Police Division and Ohio Department of Transportation.

Heavy smoke was coming from the hood of the semi and a man and woman inside were partially trapped when crews arrived, Huber Heights police said.

One crash victim was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital and a second victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Their names and conditions were not released.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation police said.

Scanner traffic indicated the crash led to a diesel spill.
