Supercars are meant to be loud and obnoxious, and the Lamborghini Aventador SV certainly delivers on that promise.
When it comes to opulent supercars, Lamborghini has no competitors. Ferrari and Lamborghini have been competing in the supercar segment for decades now. However, these companies have gone in very different directions with their modern supercars.
While Ferrari has focused on elegant performance, Lamborghini has gone all-out to create the most over-the-top supercars possible. Lamborghini dove headfirst into what a supercar is supposed to be and has given gearheads exactly what they want every step of the way. Nothing showcases this more than the Lamborghini Aventador SV. Want to learn more about the legendary Lamborghini Aventador SV? Here are 10 reasons why every gearhead should get their hands on one.
The Aventador SV was released back in 2011. While many would have compared this model to the Ferrari 458, the two simply can’t be compared. The 458 Italia came with 562 hp, almost 200 hp less than the Aventador SV.
This is true even if you scaled up to the Ferrari 488 GTB. This is why many compare the Aventador with the LaFerrari hypercar. The LaFerrari has 950 HP and does outperform the SV. However, the LaFerrari also costs significantly more than the SV. This makes the SV the better deal.
The body of the Aventador SV is what sets it apart from the rest of the auto industry. The supercar makes use of carbon fiber throughout the body to help save weight. This carbon exterior also includes the side panels, air intakes, diffuser, and rear spoiler.
The Aventador also boasts an incredibly aggressive look. This is in complete contrast to Ferrari and McLaren, which made sleeker, more modern-looking supercars. The Aventador looks sharp, angular, and aggressive from every angle.
The Lamborghini Aventador comes with incredibly sticky Pirelli tires. While many may think you can just throw on better tires, the Lamborghini was actually developed in partnership with Pirelli to provide every SV with the best possible tire option.
The tires were actually developed to suit the SV’s specific grip and aero design. These tires are able to warm up quickly and provide you with insane amounts of grip in a relatively short amount of time. This works well with the car’s launch control to provide you with impressive acceleration and quarter-mile times.
The Aventador did not just throw in performance without taking handling and braking into consideration. The SV comes with carbon-ceramic brakes and all the latest driving technology you can expect in modern-day supercars.
These features have aged well, remaining practical to this day. This means that even if you go ahead and buy a 2011 Aventador, you are still getting the best driving technology on the market today. This does not go for its economical figures, but in terms of performance, there aren’t many cars that can beat it.
The Aventador was already a powerful supercar. The standard Aventador came with 690hp, significantly more than the Ferrari 458. The SV version of the supercar increased this official figure to around 740 hp.
The V12 powertrain was the most powerful engine to come out of Lamborghini. This impressive powertrain was paired perfectly with their seven-speed, single-clutch gearbox that could shift gears in less than 50 milliseconds. This made it one of the most powerful accelerators you could get your hand on.

The Aventador was and still is an incredibly fast car. Despite being over 10 years old, the supercar is still one of the most powerful and agile supercars money can buy. This is also why the second-hand value of the car has not decreased much over the years. This makes the Aventador the perfect collector's item that you can easily dominate on track with as well.
The powerful Aventador SV can easily reach a top speed of around 217 miles per hour. What makes this more impressive is that the Aventador SV has even reached 219 miles per hour in some private tests. The Aventador makes perfect use of active aero to cut and glide around any track. Lamborghini also improved on this further with the SVJ model later on.

The Lamborghini SV comes with modern technology that helps get the most out of the entire package. This includes a powerful launch control system that helps accelerate the car from 0 to 60 in just 2.8 seconds. This acceleration helps make the SV a quarter-mile monster. The standard SV model can easily complete the quarter-mile in 10.4 seconds.
This system is one of the simplest and easiest to use. With just a few clicks, the car will tell you that you are in the optimal window so that you can hold down the brake and pick up the revs. The car will then prompt you again to let you know that the launch control is ready to kick in. This means that you can make every red light a quarter-mile drag.

The new SV model comes with the same drive modes as the standard Aventador. What helps set this apart from other supercars is the simple and easy nature of these different engine modes. Despite being in Italian, the Lamborghini comes with an eco, sport, and race mode.
The eco mode helps conserve energy as you drive, while the sport mode stiffens things up around the car. This makes for a sportier feel and improves the throttle response for quicker acceleration. Race mode takes this to a whole new level and shifts the engine into a complete beast. This increases the transmission speed, throttle response, and stiffens the suspension for the ultimate performance.
Supercars aren’t really designed to be driven every day. This often means that manufacturers can strip the insides and save weight. This is prioritized as saving weight makes the car essentially go faster. However, the team at Lamborghini did not want to skimp on the luxury within their cars.
The Lamborghini comes with leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. You can opt for carbon fiber seats, but the standard SV model comes with luxurious finishes as standard. The SV also comes with a large center console that includes a large infotainment screen that can seamlessly connect to your mobile phone.

While gearheads around the world have adored the V12 engine for decades now, it may be coming to an end. Performance cars like the Bugatti Chiron have still gone with the W16 engine, but modern supercars have abandoned the V12 almost entirely.
Modern supercars are becoming more powerful and more efficient by pairing a V8 with hybrid technology. These V8 powertrains are capable of reaching higher top speeds and can accelerate much faster at the same time. This means that V12 powertrains, despite how great they may sound, may not be around much longer.
